A boy and his dog! I did this portrait of my nephew and his dog as a surprise gift using reference photos from instagram. I had fun with this unusual perspective where the dog is oversized relative to the boy and appears to be jumping out of the canvas. The boy is resting on the dog and seemingly floating away from the contemporary geometric background. There is a strong light from the left which gives the white pitbull definition and shows the contours of both faces. Surprisingly my biggest challenge was the background -getting the colors right and figuring out the angles of the yellow shape. I also softened the blue color of the shirt as a final step.
