December 31, 2018 News from the Studio
As we head into the New Year I reflect back on my momentous (at least for me) decision to leave the corporate world and full-time pursue my passion to create art. In 2018 I completed 34 oil paintings (including 6 commissions) and 3 mixed media pieces, participated in 10 exhibitions (6 juried and 1 solo), sold 28 artworks, donated 2 artworks and found gallery representation. I setup my art website - emilygilmanbeezley.com, listened to art marketing podcasts, experimented with various sales campaigns and learned a ton of lessons. Moving on, I am in the midst of building my 2019 business plan including a number of stretch goals. Stay tuned and Happy New Year!
"Winslow's View - Prouts Neck ME" 9"H x 12"W Oil on Linen
I frequently visit Maine staying with friends and we are always on the look out for cultural activities. On a recent trip we visited the Winslow Homer Studio and were able to explore the coastline that inspired a number of his most famous paintings. In "Winslow's View" I take a more expressionistic approach to capturing the rugged outcroppings, windblown grasses and cold blue-gray New England water.
