Ocean Dreaming

Memorial Day weekend is traditionally the start of the summer beach season here in the Northeast. This weekend is looking to be a wash out with heavy rains through Sunday, coastal flooding and an angry ocean with huge choppy waves. My friend was saying the other day that we humans are drawn to the ocean because our bodies are mostly made up of water. I have always loved the Jersey Shore where I spent every August growing up with extended family. To me, the ocean is uniquely energizing and soothing at the same time - something I've tried to capture in my series of oil paintings depicting the shore at different times of the day.
Happy Memorial Day and many thanks to our nation's heroes.
